UNIFORM GUIDELINES
The Dress Code: The following rules and regulations will guide students as to their expected behavior while attending school.
The Dress Code
The St. Maarten Academy expects every student to show a sense of pride for self and school, a positive attitude towards schooling, proper respect for the staff and a willingness to help develop the institution. The staff will be willing to assist students with any matter related to school life or personal development. Students are urged to consult staff members about their problems. The following rules and regulations will guide students as to their expected behaviour while attending school:
UNIFORMS
St. Maarten Academy’s Polo shirts and Physical Educationshirts are available at 0-14 Kids.
Students are required to wear the school’s uniform at all times. Any student who is not in uniform will not be allowed in school.
Boy's Uniform (Compulsory)

White polo shirt with S.M.A. school insignia engraved.
Shirts must be tucked into pants. -
Only plain white undershirt or gym shirt allowed.
(No other colours) -
Navy blue cotton Pants (No Jeans, No other colours)

White, black or navy blue socks

Only white, navy blue or black closed toe shoes or
sneakers with socks are allowed
(No other colours) -
Only navy blue school jackets with S.M.A. insignia are allowed. Optional, but advised if a child has to wear a sweater due to illness

Black, brown, white, or navy blue belt.

PE Uniform (Compulsory)

Acceptable Hairstyles

Low business haircuts

Boys with long hair:
- Must braid or plait backwards (cornrows) or
- Gather hair neatly in ONE at the nape of the neck.
Strictly Forbidden for Boys

Earrings, necklaces, wristbands, rings, long nails

Long dreadlocks, long unkempt hair

Wigs, open twists, single plaits

Designer haircuts (Mohawks, inscriptions in hair, lines, hair colour, beads, any other hair ornaments)

Metal hair picks, caps, head coverings

Gang paraphernalia hats, headbands, hoodies
(Bandanas, coloured shoelaces, coloured shoes etc.) -
Cuts/designs in eyebrows, visible tattoos

Any form of visible piercings e.g. nose, eyebrows, tongue, eyelids etc.

Accessories: sunglasses during virtual or face to face instructional time.
Girl's Uniform (Compulsory)

Shirts must be tucked into skirts and pants. -
Only plain white undershirt or gym shirt are allowed.
(No other colours) -
A navy blue all around pleated skirt below (covering) the knees OR long navy blue cotton-polyester pair of pants. These pants must be loose. Tight pants and jeans are strictly forbidden (No other colours).

White, black or navy blue socks

Only black low-heeled shoes or black, navy blue or white sneakers are allowed. No Crocs allowed.
(If a student has a foot injury, she needs to provide a doctor’s note in order to be accepted in school with open toe-shoes, or black sandals). -
